What error codes generally mean

Different brands use different code formats, but many codes fall into common categories: paper handling, supplies, covers/sensors, or connectivity.

Paper/feed

Paper jams, empty trays, or misfeeds can trigger warning messages or codes.

Supplies

Ink/toner low, not seated correctly, or needs attention/cleanup.

Connectivity

Wi-Fi/USB issues can cause offline, not found, or communication errors.

General checks to try

Basic checks

  • Restart the printer and your computer/phone
  • Confirm paper is loaded and trays are seated
  • Close all covers/doors firmly
  • Check for obvious jam messages
  • Wait for the printer to show “Ready”

Connectivity checks

  • Confirm the printer is on the correct Wi-Fi name (SSID)
  • Keep the printer closer to the router for setup
  • Remove and re-add the printer on your device
  • If status shows “offline”, follow the offline guide
If prints are faint or washed out, see: Faded print or light text.
